Junior Assistant Director
Job Description
We are looking for individuals with a passion for making films, who are eager to take on the role of a Junior Assistant Director. The job will entail assisting the First Assistant Director in planning and executing day-to-day operations of the production, in coordinating schedules for rehearsals and shoots as well as in the management of all crew members and actors. The Junior Assistant director is also required to help identify and apply efficient troubleshooting where necessary, in the effort to ensure all operations run smoothly and in compliance with the production’s budget.
Training will be provided by Blackflag’s First Assistant Director who has had an extensive, decade-long experience in the industry, having worked on some of the biggest films in Malaysia and internationally. The role of the Assistant Director is a key pillar in the principle photography process and this is an opportunity for fresh graduates to truly sink their teeth in the fundamental workings of it. This will be an invaluable experience for anyone aspiring for a career in filmmaking, be it as an Assistant Director, a Producer or even a Director.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Film, Media, Broadcasting or related fields
- Strong passion for film and television
- Good leadership qualities
- Excellent communication skills
- Good analytical skills with ability to identify and solve problems efficiently
- Good command of English and Malay, with proficiency in additional language preferred.
- First-Aid knowledge is preferred.
- Proficient in operating Pages, Numbers, Microsoft Words and Microsoft Excel
- Proficient in operating Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier Pro and/or industry friendly editing softwares preferred.
Development Executive
Job Description
We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic individuals seeking to gain the opportunity to be involved hands-on in the crucial process of film development. The role entails an expansive set of demands, from identifying potential ideas and IP, to participating in the ideation process, as well as managing the process of crafting stories into screenplays for both film and television platforms by way of creative input. Development Executives are also expected to read submissions from writers and directors, produce in-house coverage and track local and regional talent. Training will be provided in all the above areas by Blackflag’s inhouse Director of Development and this unique role is a superb opportunity for any fresh graduate aspiring to a career in the media/film industry, aspiring screenwriters or even aspiring directors to learn the nuts and bolts of feature film making, from the ground up.
Requirements
- Love film and television
- Degree in Film, Media, Performing Arts, Creative Writing or Literature
- Good writing and analytical skills, a critical mind with capacity to provide creative criticism
- Strong English language proficiency, with proficiency in a second language strongly preferred.
